High-Level Goal
Create an equitable, community-driven approach to addressing food insecurity, with a focus on integrating diverse community voices and lived experiences into food security planning.
Project Objective
Develop strategic plans and work plans, securing funding, and facilitating community engagement to address food security and barriers to accessing food assistance programs.
ACBC Approach
Strategic visioning, stakeholder engagement, and actionable planning. Mini Food Assistance Assessment and advocated for a Food Policy Council, obtaining $15K in startup funding. Partnered with Mystic Valley Y and Equitable Spaces to engage communities through in-person and virtual discussions. Synthesized community engagement, aligning future Council’s goals with the priorities of historically marginalized communities.

Outcome
The initiatives secured $55K in funding, established a Food Policy Council, and aligned the Food Justice Council’s goals with marginalized communities’ needs through inclusive engagement.
